## About the Role Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. The Staff Product Designer role is a critical part of the Districts team, responsible for driving the end-to-end design architecture for the Next-Gen Administrator platform. This role matters because it directly impacts the learning experience of millions of students worldwide, particularly in historically under-resourced communities.
The Staff Product Designer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and product management, to create a competitive advantage in the market. ## What You Will Do - Drive the end-to-end design architecture for the Next-Gen Administrator platform - Collaborate with design, engineering, and product management partners on the longer-term vision for the platform - Support end-to-end information architecture across the multi-product ecosystem - Increase engagement and usability of the current school and district administrator platform - Work cross-functionally to meet business objectives and create a competitive advantage in the market - Conduct user research to inform design decisions and improve the learning experience - Develop and maintain design documentation and standards - Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to colleagues - Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in UX design and product development - Contribute to the development of the team's skills and expertise, sharing knowledge and best practices
## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on UX and user-centered design - Portfolio that demonstrates expertise in designing complex systems and products - Strong understanding of design principles, human-centered design, and design thinking - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams - Ability to approach problems with a solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to iterate and refine - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience conducting user research and analyzing data - Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Cloud - Knowledge of front-end development principles and technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Experience working in an Agile development environment, with familiarity with Scrum or Kanban methodologies
## Nice to Have - Experience working in the education technology sector or a related field - Knowledge of accessibility principles and design for inclusivity - Familiarity with learning management systems and education platforms - Experience with data visualization and information architecture - Certification in UX design, product management, or a related field
