About the Role

At Boulevard, the Staff Product Designer, Platform plays a pivotal role in shaping the foundational systems that power the client experience platform. This role is about designing the core concepts, patterns, and frameworks that enable the product to scale efficiently while maintaining a deep focus on usability and human-centered design. As a key member of the Platform pod, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive strategic decisions that impact the long-term growth of the company.

The day-to-day involves a blend of high-level strategic thinking and detailed design work. The Staff Product Designer will lead platform-level design initiatives, collaborating with product and engineering teams to ensure alignment and effective implementation of design solutions. This role requires a unique blend of technical acumen, design expertise, and strategic vision, making it an exciting challenge for someone who thrives in complex problem-solving environments.

The Platform pod is critical to Boulevard's mission, as it builds the backbone of the company's technology, including identity, payments, permissions, APIs, data, and extensibility. What You Will Do

  • Lead platform-level design strategy and define success metrics in close collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Design foundational concepts, patterns, and frameworks that enable scalability, flexibility, and extensibility across Boulevard's ecosystem.
  • Help evolve the platform to support upmarket customers with complex workflows, permissions, and operational needs.
  • Support multi-location businesses by designing solutions that balance centralized control with local flexibility.
  • Contribute to international expansion efforts by developing localization, regional requirements, and scalable global patterns.
  • Translate complex technical and system-level problems into clear, intuitive, and trustworthy user experiences.
  • Partner with engineers to guide implementation and ensure that design intent is preserved in production.
  • Act as a design leader and multiplier, raising the quality bar, influencing peers, and contributing to design culture, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other designers to evolve Boulevard's design system to support platform complexity and future growth.
  • Explore and help define how Boulevard can leverage advanced technologies to drive innovation and growth.

What We Are Looking For

  • A portfolio that demonstrates expertise in product design, with a focus on platform-level thinking and complex system design.
  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced tech environment with a focus on scalability and international growth.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, human-centered design methodologies, and the ability to apply these principles to complex technical problems.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components.
  • A degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
