The Staff Product Manager, Growth (Monetization) role at Close represents a pivotal opportunity for a seasoned product management professional to drive significant revenue growth through the development and implementation of innovative monetization strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the monetization efforts across the organization, collaborating closely with the VP of Product Growth and other key stakeholders to drive business objectives forward.As a key member of the Product Growth team, the Staff Product Manager will navigate the intricacies of pricing, packaging, billing, and placement, ensuring that these components are aligned with the company's overall growth strategy. This involves not only a strategic understanding of how these elements contribute to revenue growth but also a keen eye for detail, particularly in managing the complex billing infrastructure that underpins Close's operations.
What You Will Do
- Develop and execute comprehensive monetization strategies that align with Close's business objectives, focusing on pricing, packaging, billing, and placement.
- Collaborate with the VP of Product Growth to co-own the vision for Close's monetization strategy, driving towards a shared understanding and approach.
- Work across three horizons: near-term conversion engine optimization, medium-term development of an AI credit system, and longer-term vision for pricing and packaging in a product-led, AI-native world.
- Conduct market research and analyze customer feedback to inform monetization decisions, ensuring that strategies are customer-centric and data-driven.
- Design, implement, and analyze experiments to improve free-to-paid conversion rates and average revenue per customer.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the technical infrastructure underlying Close's billing and monetization systems, including Stripe integration and legacy code.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, finance, sales, support, and external vendors.
- Participate in the development of the AI credit system, focusing on how credits are bought, consumed, displayed, refilled, and tied to plans.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and developments in AI monetization, applying this knowledge to continually improve Close's monetization strategies.
What We Are Looking For
- 6-8 years of experience in SaaS, preferably in B2B SMB, with a focus on pricing, packaging, and billing.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and executing monetization strategies that drive revenue growth.
- Experience with usage-based billing and systems where customer cost is tied to consumption.
- Strong understanding of AI-forward technologies and their application in monetization strategies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to dive deep into complex data sets and billing infrastructure.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust across functions and with senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset, able to balance short-term execution with long-term vision.
Nice to Have
- Experience standing up a credit system from scratch or migrating from a pure subscription to a hybrid model.
- Bonus points for experience with token-based pricing, credit systems, or other innovative monetization models.
- Familiarity with Stripe and other payment gateways, as well as experience managing legacy code and edge cases.
- A background in software development or a related technical field, with the ability to write scripts, build prototypes, and understand technical trade-offs.
