Job Description

About the Role

The Staff Product Manager position at Docker is a critical role that sits at the intersection of the company's internal developer platform and customer-facing products. As a key member of the Infrastructure and AI Dev Tools organization, you will be responsible for driving the long-term product strategy for Docker's internal developer platform and AI developer tooling. This includes defining and executing the product roadmap, aligning platform and tooling strategy with business objectives, and ensuring that the platform is adopted and utilized effectively by internal teams.

The Infrastructure team at Docker is responsible for building and operating the cloud-native platform behind products like Docker Hub, Gordon, and AI Governance. This includes multi-tenant Kubernetes, multi-region networking, self-service provisioning, observability, and paved roads that enable teams to ship safely without re-solving the same problems. The AI Dev Tools team, on the other hand, is focused on building the agents and tooling that are modernizing how software gets designed, built, shipped, and operated.

As a Staff Product Manager, you will work closely with engineering leaders, principal and staff engineers, Security, and product teams across Docker to drive the product vision and strategy. You will also collaborate with customers as internal tools graduate into products, ensuring that the platform is meeting the needs of both internal teams and external customers.

What You Will Do

  • Define and execute the long-term product strategy for Docker's internal developer platform and AI developer tooling
  • Drive an integrated roadmap that balances foundational platform investments with AI-native capabilities
  • Align platform and tooling strategy with Docker's business objectives
  • Work closely with engineering leaders, principal and staff engineers, Security, and product teams to drive product vision and strategy
  • Collaborate with customers as internal tools graduate into products
  • Treat the platform as a product, driving clarity on prioritization, defining golden paths, and measuring adoption
  • Spot opportunities to turn internal tools and platform capabilities into customer-facing offerings
  • Shape the path from prototype to product for internal tools and platform capabilities
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that the platform is adopted and utilized effectively
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering teams, product teams, and customers
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and growth

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on platform product management and developer tooling
  • Strong technical depth, with experience in areas such as Kubernetes, CI/CD, networking, APIs, and observability
  • Fluency in where AI and agentic workflows are heading, with a healthy sense of where automation earns its place and where it does not
  • Ability to influence without authority, working closely with technical teams to drive product vision and strategy
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to balance long-term platform vision with near-term needs of teams depending on the platform
  • Experience with cloud-native platforms, containerization, and DevOps practices
  • Strong opinions about what makes developer tooling great, invisible by default, indispensable once adopted, and measurable in workflows

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Docker products, such as Docker Hub, Docker Desktop, and Docker Scout
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts, with experience applying these concepts to real-world problems
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Familiarity with security and compliance principles, with experience applying these principles to platform and product development

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick leave, and holidays
  • 401(k) matching program, with a competitive match rate
  • Employee stock purchase plan, allowing employees to purchase company stock at a discounted rate
