About the Role

Mercury is revolutionizing the financial landscape for startups with its complete and user-friendly banking stack. To drive this innovation forward, the company is seeking a Staff Recruiter - Executive & Leadership to join its team. This role is crucial in identifying and hiring exceptional executive talent who can shape Mercury's next stage of growth. The successful candidate will work closely with Mercury's founders, board, investor talent partners, and current executive-level hiring managers to recruit for Director to C-suite leadership needs across the business. This involves developing a deep understanding of Mercury's values, brand, products, and business model to design effective recruitment strategies. As an early member of a newly formed recruiting team, you will have the opportunity to shape what success looks like and hold a high culture and hiring bar to ensure the attraction and retention of best-in-class executive talent.

What You Will Do

  • Develop a deep understanding of Mercury's values, brand, products, and business model to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Work closely with Mercury's founders and executive-level hiring managers to design interview panels and source strong candidates.
  • Proactively network within the industry to identify and engage top talent for executive positions.
  • Position Mercury as an innovative fintech leader to attract and close candidates.
  • Stay abreast of talent and market trends across the broader banking, financial services, and fintech industries.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Mercury's leadership teams by providing insights on fintech and banking industry trends and talent markets.
  • Identify and engage top talent through both passive and active channels, delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Lead 0 > 1 recruiting efforts as Mercury expands its business and products, requiring the hiring of executives with niche skill sets and/or regulatory knowledge.
  • Work with data to interpret trends, make recommendations, and enhance the recruiting process.

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in full-cycle recruiting, with ideally 4+ years focused on leadership and executive hiring.
  • Experience hiring technical leaders with exposure to several technical organizations, including Engineering, Product, Design, Data Science, Creative, and/or Marketing.
  • Deep experience recruiting for Director to C-Suite Executive talent, ideally in a high-growth, rapidly changing business environment.
  • Strong sourcing, research, and networking skills to engage appropriate talent proactively.
  • Experience partnering with founders and/or Executive-level stakeholders and hiring managers as a trusted hiring partner and strategic advisor.
  • Ability to influence and partner with Board members, investor talent agencies, and external executive search firms.
  • Experience with the broader People functions, such as HRBP and Compensation, to participate in organizational discussions and understand industry compensation insights.

  • Experience in the fintech or banking industry, with a deep understanding of the U.S. banking and financial regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in hiring to guide teams towards unbiased hiring decisions.
