About the Role
The Staff Security Engineer position at DoorDash is a critical role that involves establishing the vision, strategy, and success metrics for the Customer Support and Integrity Security function. This entails working closely with various teams, including Customer Experience, Merchant Experience, Sales Operations, Enterprise Security, and GRC, to enact security strategies for DoorDash's support tooling and support agents. The role requires a deep understanding of security engineering, system architecture, scalability, and reliability decisions, as well as design trade-offs.As a key member of the security team, the Staff Security Engineer will be responsible for driving the execution of security initiatives and establishing clear, measurable metrics to demonstrate the performance and impact of the Customer Support and Integrity security programs. This role will also involve performing security testing and validation of support teams, processes, and systems to identify security gaps and remediation plans.
The ideal candidate will have a customer-first and owner mindset, with a proven track record of designing and implementing security solutions at scale for support and sales populations, including internal and third-party users.
What You Will Do
- Establish the vision, strategy, and success metrics for the Customer Support and Integrity Security function
- Lead the technical direction and roadmap execution for Customer Support and Integrity Security
- Work directly with Customer Support and Integrity, Merchant Experience, Enterprise Security, Engineering, Product, GRC, and related teams to enact security strategies
- Design and operationalize security controls to reduce risk and promote widespread adoption of secure solutions and best practices
- Perform security testing and validation of support teams, processes, and systems
- Drive alignment across multiple organizations and build durable operating mechanisms
- Improve how the company proactively manages security risks at scale
- Be the trusted primary partner for the Customer Support and Integrity organization on all things security
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks
- Develop and maintain documentation of security controls and processes
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience as a security engineer in an enterprise security, corporate security, or infrastructure security discipline
- Proven track record of designing and implementing security solutions at scale for support and sales populations
- Experience working directly with third-party support organizations
- Deep understanding of security engineering, system architecture, scalability, and reliability decisions
- Proficiency in analyzing code, architecture, and designs from a security perspective
- Well-versed in scripting languages (e.g., Python) and other programming languages (e.g., Java)
- Experience with infrastructure as a code tooling like Terraform
- Experience with IAM platforms (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace)
- Hands-on experience with Google Workspace products, especially Google Chrome Enterprise Premium
- Expertise with cloud infrastructure and management in GCP and AWS
Nice to Have
- Experience with Golang
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance regulations
- Certification in security engineering or a related field
- Experience with agile development methodologies
