## About the Role As a Staff Software Engineer at LawnStarter, you will be the technical anchor of an initiative, working closely with a cross-functional team including a Product Manager and a designer. Your primary focus will be on leading AI agents to ship high-quality code, ensuring that the technical approach aligns with the company's goals, and delivering end-to-end solutions that meet the needs of both customers and professionals on the platform. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where engineers are empowered to make significant technical decisions and are measured by the impact of their work rather than the volume of code produced.
The role is part of a larger engineering team that operates in small, focused initiative teams, supported by an Engineering Manager who fosters growth and development. You will have the autonomy to make most technical calls, with architect review for significant decisions, and the support of peers and leaders to ensure the success of your initiatives.

## What You Will Do - Lead AI agents in developing high-quality code that meets the company's standards for production readiness, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager and designer to shape the problem, decide on the technical approach, and ensure that the solution aligns with the product's goals and user experience.
- Direct AI agents to implement code, review their output for correctness and quality, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the code meets the required standards.
- Work with the engineering team to develop and maintain the shared codebase, ensuring that all contributions are of high quality and align with the company's technical vision.
- Participate in the full lifecycle of product development, from problem-framing through production to post-launch review, and own the outcome with your team.
- Make technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy, documenting them and revisiting based on data and feedback.
- Implement quality assurance processes, including prompts, guardrails, evaluations, tests, and review loops, to ensure that AI-generated code is correct, secure, and performs well.
- Engage in cross-functional partnerships, working daily with your PM and designer, and regularly with engineering peers and your Engineering Manager.
- Present initiative outcomes and results to stakeholders, including the metric the initiative was set up to move, and share insights on whether the initiative was successful.
- Experience in leading AI agents or similar technologies to accelerate development without compromising quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach complex problems from multiple angles and collaborate with others to find solutions.
- Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, testing methodologies, and version control systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud, and experience with containerization using Docker.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines and monitoring systems.
- Participation in open-source projects or personal coding projects that demonstrate your skills and interests.
