## About the Role The Staff Software Engineer position at LawnStarter is a unique opportunity for a skilled engineer to take on a leadership role in the company's product development. As a remote member of the team based in Campinas, Brazil, the chosen candidate will be part of a dynamic and focused initiative team, working closely with a Product Manager and a designer. The engineering team at LawnStarter operates in small, agile groups, supported by an Engineering Manager who fosters growth and collaboration. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, product sense, and the ability to work effectively in a team. ## What You Will Do - Lead AI agents to achieve high-quality code implementation that meets the company's standards.
- Collaborate with your PM and designer to define the problem, decide on the technical approach, and implement the solution.
- Direct AI agents to write code, ensuring it meets the quality, security, and performance standards.
- Participate in the full lifecycle of the product, from shaping the problem to shipping the solution and reviewing post-launch metrics.
- Work closely with engineering peers across initiatives in a shared codebase, contributing to the company's overall engineering goals.
- Take ownership of the technical approach for your initiative, including architecture, data model, integration choices, rollout plan, observability, and rollback strategy.
- Implement quality control measures such as prompts, guardrails, evaluations, tests, and review loops to ensure AI agents produce safe, correct, and production-ready code.
- Engage in cross-functional partnership with daily working contact with your PM and designer, regular collaboration with engineering peers, and weekly check-ins with your Engineering Manager.
- Present initiative outcomes and results to stakeholders, focusing on whether the metric the initiative was set up to move has been successfully impacted.
- Maintain a high bar for what ships, ensuring production correctness, security, performance, observability, and a positive experience for customers and professionals.
- Experience with AI coding agents and the ability to direct them effectively.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
- High autonomy and self-motivation, with the ability to make technical decisions and own the outcome of initiatives.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, data models, and integration choices.
