Job Description

About the Role

As a Staff Solutions Engineer at Kong, you will play a critical role in driving the company's continued growth and success. You will be part of the Sales organization, working closely with the Account Executive team to lead the technical sale cycle with both new and existing customers. This is a position that supports Enterprise & Strategic accounts within the French region, and you will be responsible for aligning with the sales team to drive new business while learning and evangelizing Kong's cutting-edge technology.

You will have the chance to work with a range of customers, from small startups to large enterprises, and help them understand the value of Kong's API Management & Connectivity solutions. What You Will Do

  • Support field sales in helping customers understand the value of Kong's API Management & Connectivity solutions
  • Grow trusted client relationships throughout the entire sales lifecycle, from initial discovery to production
  • Support proof-of-concepts throughout the entire evaluation process
  • Onboard and train new customers, and establish revenue potential with existing customers
  • Coordinate with support, product, and engineering teams to prioritize customer needs and ensure 100% satisfaction
  • Create technical documentation for DevOps, implementations, and services engagements
  • Participate in creative lead-generating activities, such as creating blog posts, leading webinars, and working industry events
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute account plans
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive sales and customer success

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of pre-sales Solution Engineering or relevant experience at a SaaS, open-source, or Enterprise Software company
  • Experience working with open-source technology
  • Foundational knowledge of API Management & Integration, cloud computing trends, and open-source business models
  • Confident ability to present and lead discussions with C-level executives, product managers, and engineers
  • Enthusiasm for working in a high-profile, fast-paced startup culture
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and ability to drive sales and revenue growth
  • Experience working with a range of technologies, including API gateways, service meshes, and cloud computing platforms

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with API Gateway or Service Mesh
  • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes
  • Strong knowledge of NGINX, HTTP, AWS, Postgres, and/or Cassandra
  • Fluency working on Linux OSes
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CD/CI pipeline
