About the Role

The Staff Technical Product Manager at GE Vernova is a critical position that operates at the intersection of product management, technical expertise, and business acumen. This role is responsible for creating a clear strategic direction for product development, ensuring seamless integration and alignment of perspectives from various stakeholders, including Product Managers, Technical Anchors, Service Owners, and Developers. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver features and significant products, possessing a deep understanding of the technology stack and its impact on the final product.

The role involves frequent engagement with the development team, facilitating discussions, providing clarification, and contributing to design activities and decisions. As a key member of the product team, this position requires superior persuasion and influencing skills to ensure alignment between customer, product manager, and engineering teams. The Staff Technical Product Manager will own the releases and sprint backlogs, short-term roadmap for MVPs and quarterly releases, and continuously prioritize to ensure that 1-2 sprints/iterations of backlog are always ready.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role are diverse and challenging, requiring a unique blend of technical, business, and interpersonal skills. As a technical product manager, you will be responsible for translating unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work units, mentoring junior team members, and partnering with Development Leadership/Service Owners to ensure a healthy development process.

What You Will Do

  • Demonstrate excelling business acumen, knowing the latest industry trends and serving as an internal expert on the product and the associated competitive landscape.
  • Interact with customers/stakeholders in VOC requirements-gathering, fine-tuning, and obtaining product feedback.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver features and significant products.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the technology stack and its impact on the final product.
  • Routinely collaborate with UX in design decisions, conduct customer and stakeholder interviews, and elaborate on personas.
  • Demonstrate superior persuasion and influencing skills to ensure alignment between customer, product manager, and engineering teams.
  • Own the releases and sprint backlogs, short-term roadmap for MVPs and quarterly releases.
  • Own and manage the backlog; continuously order and prioritize to ensure that 1-2 sprints/iterations of backlog are always ready.
  • Prioritize continuously in accordance with the understanding and validation of customer problems and needs.
  • Engage frequently with the development team; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance, and refinement, testing, and validation; contribute to design activities and decisions.
  • Translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work units.
  • Partner with Development Leadership/Service Owners to ensure a healthy development process.
  • Mentor junior team members.
