Job Description

About the Role

As a Staff UX Researcher at Cohere, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of AI-powered products. Your primary responsibility will be to establish a robust research practice that empowers teams to drive evidence-based decision-making. You will work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to integrate user research into the product development lifecycle. The role entails leading complex research initiatives, designing and operationalizing research infrastructure, and supporting cross-functional teams in their research endeavors.

What You Will Do

  • Design and operationalize research systems, frameworks, and infrastructure to support the organization
  • Lead complex research initiatives, from scoping to synthesizing findings and presenting recommendations
  • Support cross-functional teams in their research endeavors through consultation and guidance
  • Empower the FDE team with UX research tools and tactics for capturing structured feedback
  • Collaborate with product managers to define measurable hypotheses and analyze analytics
  • Develop and maintain research repositories, templates, and processes
  • Facilitate research sessions, including participant recruitment and data collection
  • Synthesize research findings into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Present research insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of research-driven product roadmaps
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging methodologies in UX research

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in UX research, with a strong track record of driving product decisions
  • Expertise in establishing research infrastructure, including repositories, templates, and processes
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to force multiply impact across the organization
  • Excellent communication and synthesis skills, with the ability to present complex research insights to diverse audiences
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and engineers
  • Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects
  • Experience with research tools and software, such as usability testing platforms and survey tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with AI-powered products or in the tech industry
  • Knowledge of front-end development principles and design systems
  • Familiarity with agile product development methodologies
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical software, such as R or Python
  • Certification in UX research or a related field
