About the Role
The Start-up Communications Manager will play a vital role in shaping the narrative around Openai's cutting-edge technology and its impact on the start-up ecosystem across EMEA. As a key member of the EMEA B2B Communications team, this individual will be responsible for developing and executing proactive communications strategies that build awareness, understanding, and trust among founders, developers, and business audiences. The role will report to the Head of B2B Communications EMEA and will require close collaboration with various teams, including start-up, developer relations, marketing, product, and global affairs.The EMEA B2B Communications team is a small, fast-moving unit that supports some of Openai's most critical external audiences. The team's work spans media relations, executive communications, launches, events, case studies, and campaigns that drive awareness and understanding of Openai's mission and technology. As a hands-on PR professional, the Start-up Communications Manager will be expected to lead the day-to-day delivery of the EMEA communications programme,manage co-ordination with EMEA comms agencies, and land deeper stories, content, and case studies that showcase the impact of Openai's technology on businesses.

What You Will Do
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of the EMEA communications programme for Openai's start-up and B2B teams
- Develop and execute proactive communications strategies that build awareness, understanding, and trust among founders, developers, and business audiences
- Manage co-ordination with EMEA comms agencies to land deeper stories, content, and case studies
- Oversee a programme of events, media engagements, and influencer activations across EMEA
- Help prepare briefing materials, talking points, and media engagement plans for Openai spokespeople
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, creators, and influencers across business, technology, developer, start-up, and venture capital communities
- Support the delivery of creative, proactive communications campaigns, launches, and events across multiple channels
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and maximize impact
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, news, and developments that may impact Openai's communications strategy
What We Are Looking For
- Professional PR experience (agency or in-house) with expertise in technology, business, start-up, or developer communications
- Strong creativity and proactive media and influencer relations skills
- Experience supporting a busy media relations team and senior spokespeople
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests, events, and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with teams such as B2B, start-up, developer relations, global affairs, legal, marketing, and product
- Ambitious, deeply curious about technology, and excited by the next frontier in how businesses are built and how developers create
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and creatively
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

- Experience working with start-ups or scale-ups in the technology sector
- Knowledge of the EMEA market and its nuances
- Familiarity with Openai's technology and mission
- Language skills (fluency in English is essential, but additional languages are a plus)
