About the Role
The Strategic Account Executive role at Datadog is a critical position that requires a unique blend of sales acumen, technical knowledge, and relationship-building skills. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with large enterprise clients, while also maintaining and expanding existing relationships. Your day-to-day activities will involve prospecting into Fortune 1000 companies, running an efficient sales process, and delivering tailored solutions that meet the needs of your clients.The role is highly autonomous, with a focus on building and owning relationship maps for your territory. You will be expected to develop a deep understanding of your clients' businesses, including their pain points, goals, and challenges. By leveraging this knowledge, you will be able to negotiate favorable pricing and business terms, while also identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell Datadog's products and services.
What You Will Do
- Prospect into large Fortune 1000 companies to identify new business opportunities
- Maintain, build, and own specific relationship maps for your territory
- Develop a deep comprehension of customers' businesses, including their pain points, goals, and challenges
- Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large commercial enterprises
- Handle existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into assigned territory
- Demonstrate resourcefulness when faced with challenges that defy easy solution
- Identify the robust set of business drivers behind all opportunities
- Ensure high forecasting accuracy and consistency
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve sales goals and expand Datadog's presence in the market
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales engineering, product, and marketing teams
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of sales experience, with a focus on enterprise sales and cloud migration
- Proven track record of driving sales growth and exceeding targets
- Strong understanding of the cloud computing market and the needs of large enterprise clients
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with sales tools and technologies, including CRM and sales automation platforms
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, computer science, or engineering
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Datadog's products and services
- Knowledge of cloud-based monitoring and analytics
- Familiarity with sales methodologies, such as MEDDIC and Command of the Message
- Experience with sales training programs and continuous professional development
