About the Role
The Strategic Account Executive role at Datadog is a critical position that requires a unique blend of sales expertise, technical knowledge, and relationship-building skills. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for targeting and closing new business with Datadog's largest and most strategic customers and prospects. Your focus will be on understanding the pain points that organizations face as they operate in or migrate to a cloud environment at scale and delivering the appropriate Datadog solution.In this role, you will be working closely with a range of stakeholders, including sales teams, customer success teams, and product teams to ensure that customers receive the best possible solution for their needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining and building relationships with key decision-makers at existing and prospective customer organizations.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong track record of success in sales, particularly in the enterprise software or cloud solutions space. You will be a self-motivated and results-driven individual with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
What You Will Do
- Prospect into large Fortune 1000 companies while running an efficient sales process
- Maintain, build, and own specific relationship maps for your territory, including existing relationships and aspirational contacts
- Develop a deep comprehension of customers' businesses and the challenges they face in the cloud environment
- Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large commercial enterprises by selling value and ROI
- Handle existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into assigned territory
- Demonstrate resourcefulness when faced with challenges that defy easy solution
- Have an intuitive sense of the necessary steps to close business and gain customer validation
- Identify a robust set of business drivers behind all opportunities
- Ensure high forecasting accuracy and consistency
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in sales, preferably in the enterprise software or cloud solutions space
- A strong track record of success in sales, with a proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets
- Experience working with large Fortune 1000 companies, with a strong understanding of their needs and challenges
- Ability to demonstrate a methodology to prospect and build pipeline on your own
- Experience working for an innovative tech company (SaaS, IT infrastructure, or similar preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key decision-makers
- Strong understanding of the cloud environment and the challenges that organizations face as they migrate to the cloud
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a high degree of self-motivation and results-driven mentality
Nice to Have
- Experience with sales tools such as CRM and sales automation platforms
- Knowledge of cloud solutions, including Datadog's products and services
- Experience working in a hybrid workplace environment, with a strong ability to balance work and life
- Certification in sales or a related field, such as a degree in business administration
