About the Role

The Strategic Account Executive role at Datadog is a critical position that requires a unique blend of sales, technical, and interpersonal skills. As a Strategic Account Executive, you will be responsible for driving sales growth with Fortune 1000 companies, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, and building strong relationships with key decision-makers. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product, to develop and execute strategic account plans that meet the needs of Datadog's largest and most strategic customers.

The role of a Strategic Account Executive is multifaceted and requires a deep understanding of the customer's business, as well as the ability to communicate the value of Datadog's solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will be expected to develop and maintain a deep comprehension of the customer's business, including their pain points, goals, and objectives, and to use this knowledge to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

What You Will Do

  • Prospect into large Fortune 1000 companies while running an efficient sales process
  • Maintain, build, and own specific relationship maps for your territory, including existing relationships and aspirational contacts
  • Develop a deep comprehension of the customer's business, including their pain points, goals, and objectives
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large commercial enterprises by selling value and ROI
  • Handle existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into assigned territory
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness when faced with challenges that defy easy solution
  • Have an intuitive sense of the necessary steps to close business and gain customer validation
  • Identify a robust set of business drivers behind all opportunities
  • Ensure high forecasting accuracy and consistency

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of closing experience, with a mix of field selling within mid-market and enterprise
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding direct sales goals of
    M+ and operating with an average deal size of
    00k+
  • Ability to demonstrate a methodology to prospect and build a pipeline on your own
  • Experience working for an innovative tech company, preferably in SaaS, IT infrastructure, or a similar field
  • Experience selling into large Fortune 1000 companies, with the ability to win new logos
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and sales tools
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sales training programs, such as MEDDIC and Command of the Message
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and monitoring solutions
