About the Role
The Strategic Account Executive - Energy (oil and gas) & Utilities role at Cohere is a highly self-directed position that requires a proven track record of driving business growth through strategic sales strategies. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle, from identifying leads to closing deals with large enterprises in the energy and utilities sector. Your deep understanding of the industry and ability to develop tailored value propositions will be essential in driving success.In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with customers and prospects as a consultative, trusted advisor, understanding their challenges and goals and developing solutions to drive measurable impact for their businesses. You will also collaborate with channel partners to scale outreach and customer satisfaction in your region, and work closely with the product and engineering teams to prioritize the Cohere roadmap with customer-centric care.
As a strategic account executive, you will be the voice of the field, providing valuable insights and feedback to the product and engineering teams to inform the development of Cohere's AI solutions. Your success will be measured by your ability to drive revenue growth, expand existing relationships, and identify new business opportunities.
What You Will Do
- Focus on net-new logo acquisition via outbound activity and relationship building with key stakeholders in the energy and utilities sector
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive revenue growth and expand existing relationships
- Collaborate with channel partners to scale outreach and customer satisfaction in your region
- Work closely with customers and prospects to understand their challenges and goals, and develop tailored value propositions to drive measurable impact for their businesses
- Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach through proof-of-concept, pilot, deal close, and deployment
- Provide ongoing oversight of the project to ensure success and identify new business opportunities
- Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to prioritize the Cohere roadmap with customer-centric care
- Develop and maintain a strong network of key decision-maker and influencer contacts and relationships in the energy and utilities sector
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and apply this knowledge to drive business growth and inform sales strategies
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of previous B2B sales experience with large enterprises in the energy and utilities sector
- Proven track record of driving business growth through strategic sales strategies
- Strong understanding of the energy and utilities sector, including industry trends and developments
- Ability to develop and execute strategic account plans to drive revenue growth and expand existing relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and prospects
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
- Experience working with AI solutions and/or SaaS products is a plus
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand and analyze financial data and drive business growth
Nice to Have
- Previous experience working with customers during the deployment phase of the engagement
- Experience selling complex products, such as developer tools, API products, or AI/NLP solutions
- Knowledge of sales methodologies and frameworks, such as Solution Selling or Challenger Sales
- Experience working with sales automation tools and CRM software
