About the Role

The Strategic Account Executive role at Datadog is a key position in the company's SLED sales team. As a Strategic Account Executive, you will be responsible for managing sales relationships with large State, Local, and Education organizations. This role requires a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to convey the value of Datadog's product. You will be working with a well-defined methodology to identify customer needs and develop relationships.

What You Will Do

  • Prospect into large State, Local, and Education organizations while running an efficient sales process
  • Maintain, build, and own specific relationship maps for your territory, including existing relationships and aspirational contacts
  • Develop a deep comprehension of customer's business
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large SLED enterprises by selling value and ROI
  • Handle existing customer expectations while expanding reach and depth into assigned territory
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness when faced with challenges that defy easy solution
  • Have an intuitive sense of necessary steps to close business and gain customer validation
  • Identify a robust set of value drivers behind all opportunities
  • Ensure high forecasting accuracy and consistency

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of closing experience, with a mix of field selling within assigned SLED region
  • 2-3+ years of SLED/Gov sales experience
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding direct sales goals of
    M+
  • Ability to demonstrate methodology to prospect and build pipeline on your own
  • Experience working for an innovative tech company (SaaS, IT infrastructure, or similar preferred)
  • Experience selling into large SLED organizations with the ability to win new logos
  • Strong Excel skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sales training in MEDDIC and Command of the Message
  • Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and their applications in the public sector
  • Familiarity with Datadog's product and its value proposition
