About the Role
The Strategic Business Development Consultant plays a pivotal role in identifying, shaping, and incubating new growth opportunities for Vonage's Network Powered Solutions (NwPS). This involves operating at the intersection of market sensing, partnerships, and solution incubation to ensure NwPS solutions align with customer demand and stay ahead of competitive shifts. The focus is on opportunity creation that converts into revenue over a 12-36 month horizon, which is crucial for the company's sustainable growth.As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and validating new use cases, vertical plays, and solution concepts that can scale over time. This role matters because it directly impacts Vonage's ability to expand its addressable market and build a multi-year pipeline of opportunities. The position requires a deep understanding of emerging market needs, industry inflection points, and new monetization models aligned with corporate strategy.
The day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting structured market analysis, seeding early-stage opportunities, and working closely with the sales team to transition mature opportunities into active sales motions.
What You Will Do
- Identify emerging market needs, industry inflection points, and new monetization models aligned with corporate strategy
- Develop and validate new use cases, vertical plays, and solution concepts that can scale over time
- Conduct structured market analysis (TAM, value pools, buying centers, competitive dynamics)
- Build and maintain a future-year opportunity pipeline (12-36 months) with clear conversion paths into sales execution
- Seed early-stage opportunities through pilots, design partnerships, and proofs of value
- Work with Sales Overlay and core sales teams to transition mature opportunities into active sales motions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and support for new opportunities
- Develop business cases for new opportunities, including financial projections and risk assessments
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in business development, strategy, or a related field, with a focus on cloud communications or a similar industry
- Strong understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics in the communications API market
- Proven track record of identifying and developing new business opportunities that drive revenue growth
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Experience with market analysis tools and techniques, such as TAM and competitive dynamics
- Strong networking and partnership development skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
