About the Role
The Strategic Delivery Lead, Cyber is a critical role within OpenAI's government team, responsible for delivering high-impact AI solutions to the U.S. national security and cyber enterprise. This position requires a deep understanding of cyber mission challenges and the ability to translate complex problems into actionable, AI-enabled solutions. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with government organizations, research institutions, and industry partners to identify and prioritize opportunities for AI adoption.The role is highly cross-functional, requiring collaboration with internal teams, including Research, Engineering, and Go-to-Market, as well as external stakeholders, such as government agencies and industry partners. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be essential in driving progress and delivering value to national security customers.
As a Strategic Delivery Lead, you will be responsible for owning and driving execution of technical delivery workstreams, ensuring clear problem-framing, crisp milestone definitions, proactive risk identification, and rapid issue resolution. Your expertise in program management, combined with your experience operating in cyber or national security environments, will enable you to navigate complex stakeholders and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What You Will Do
- Forge and manage strategic partnerships with key national security and cyber mission users to identify and deliver on the most impactful AI and AGI use cases.
- Serve as the accountable lead for delivering high-impact national security and cyber-focused engagements tied to defined contractual milestones.
- Act as a key translator between technical teams and business stakeholders, clearly articulating technical progress, risks, requirements, and dependencies in language accessible to both senior executives and technical practitioners.
- Work with government, defense, industry partners, and academia to identify key concepts for national security AI use, including cyber defense, threat intelligence, security operations, incident response, and vulnerability management workflows.
- Partner deeply with technical teams to frame complex business and technical problems into actionable, scoped projects, serving as a strategic sounding board and thought leader to guide technical direction, anticipate blockers, and align teams proactively.
- Establish best practices around milestone tracking, internal coordination, and delivery operations at scale.
- Build internal consensus across stakeholder groups, including technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the U.S. national security and cyber ecosystem, including key players, trends, and challenges.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with AI adoption in national security and cyber environments.
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in program management, preferably in a cyber or national security context.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, high-impact projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of cyber mission challenges and the ability to translate complex problems into actionable, AI-enabled solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with government agencies, defense contractors, or other organizations in the national security and cyber ecosystem.
- Strong technical skills, including experience with AI, machine learning, or data analytics.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a virtual environment, with a strong focus on delivering results and driving progress.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
