About the Role

The Strategic Finance - GTM role at Mercury is a pivotal position that involves building and owning the data, tools, and systems that power Go-to-Market performance and decision-making. This role is crucial for Mercury's continued growth and success, as it will enable teams across Growth, Marketing, and Product to make better decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in finance and a keen ability to partner with various stakeholders to drive business outcomes.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include working closely with the GTM Strategic Finance Lead to translate economic frameworks into scalable systems. This will require a deep understanding of financial modeling, data analysis, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. The role will also involve designing and implementing automations to reduce manual work, standardizing decision-making processes, and accelerating the path from data to insights and then to actions.

What You Will Do

  • Build and own the core datasets that power growth decision-making, including but not limited to customer acquisition costs, funnel conversion rates, cohort performance, and lifetime value inputs.
  • Create dashboards and tools that enable teams to understand performance across different channels, campaigns, and segments.
  • Translate strategic finance frameworks into scalable systems and decision tools, such as payback models, channel scaling rules, and ROI thresholds.
  • Design and implement automations that reduce manual work, standardize decision-making, and accelerate the path from data to insights and then to actions.
  • Partner with Growth, Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, Product, and Data teams to improve data quality, attribution, and performance visibility.
  • Support forecasting and planning processes related to growth and customer behavior.
  • Identify recurring questions or manual processes and proactively build systems, datasets, or tools to eliminate them.
  • Work closely with the GTM Strategic Finance Lead to ensure alignment and effectiveness of financial models and decision-making tools.
  • Participate in the development of the company's financial strategy, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3-5 years of experience in strategic finance, growth analytics, bizops, or a similar role in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong SQL and data manipulation skills, with the ability to work directly with large datasets and define clean, scalable data models.
  • Expert modeling skills, including building detailed P&Ls and operating models, with experience building models that are actually used by stakeholders.
  • Experience working on growth, marketing, or customer-related problems, such as CAC, funnels, experimentation, or unit economics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate in ambiguity and independently drive problems from definition to a scalable solution.
  • A systems-oriented mindset, with the instinct to identify recurring questions or workflows and build scalable solutions to eliminate them.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous environments and translate loosely defined problems into structured, repeatable systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js, to create interactive and dynamic dashboards.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python, R, or Julia, for advanced data manipulation and modeling.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in finance and marketing.
