Strategic Finance Lead, Corporate Finance and Capital Strategy

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of capital structure, financing strategy, and debt markets, as well as experience in building and leading high-performing teams. You will be responsible for translating complex technical and business inputs into clear recommendations and decision-ready materials for senior stakeholders, and will need to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What You Will Do

• Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies to support Openai's long-term investments and growth priorities
• Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives, funding options, and risk
• Structure and execute complex strategic initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams
• Provide clear and actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders on financial planning and decision-making
• Lead high-priority cross-functional workstreams from concept through execution, and collaborate closely with technical teams to drive AI-driven workflows and decision-making
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, executives, and technical teams
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in AI, finance, and technology, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and growth at Openai
• Collaborate with the finance team to develop and implement AI-native workflows and decision-making processes
• Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members, and contribute to the development of the finance team's skills and capabilities

What We Are Looking For

• 12+ years of experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, capital markets, investment banking, or related fields
• Strong understanding of capital structure, financing strategy, debt markets, and large-scale investment evaluation
• Experience operating in high-growth, high-complexity environments, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and move quickly
• Exceptional financial modeling, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong executive presence, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across investors, executives, and technical stakeholders
• A high-agency operating style that combines strategic perspective with a willingness to build directly
• Excitement around using AI as a core operating advantage, with a mindset toward building AI-native workflows rather than traditional finance processes
• Excellent judgment, low ego, and a collaborative approach to solving hard problems
• Strong experience with Excel and other financial modeling tools

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-driven workflows and decision-making processes
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Certification in finance or accounting, such as the CFA or CPA
