About the Role

The Strategic Finance Lead role at Affirm is a critical position that supports the growth of the company's topline revenue streams with large business-to-business (B2B) merchant partners. As a key member of the Revenue Finance group, you will be responsible for driving company strategy, empowering executive decision-making with real-time forecasts and analytics, and guiding the company towards achieving its goals. This high-impact, highly visible role requires a unique blend of technical skills, business acumen, and interpersonal skills.

The finance team at Affirm is responsible for ensuring the company remains financially sound and strategically positioned for growth. This team manages financial planning, accounting, pricing, vendor management, tax, investor relations, and corporate development, delivering timely insights, accurate reporting, and careful analysis to support decision-making. From day-to-day financial operations to major investments, the finance team enables sustainable, informed growth by maintaining strong fiscal discipline.

The Strategic Finance team is a scrappy, tight-knit group with outsized cross-functional impact and ownership. As a Strategic Finance Lead, you will have the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional leaders, including Product, Growth Analytics, Credit, Revenue, and Merchant Pricing teams, to drive business outcomes through strategic and analytic support.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive business outcomes through strategic and analytic support
  • Build and maintain financial models to forecast, reconcile, and describe variances for key metrics
  • Collaborate with the ML modeling team to marry financial models with aggregated ML forecasts
  • Establish top-line performance metrics and targets, analyze and report realized financial performance to Executives and other company leaders
  • Drive accountability for results and provide actionable insights to inform business decisions
  • Design and deliver scalable automated user and financial dashboards and analytics for cross-departmental and executive consumption
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's financial performance and market trends
  • Identify areas for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide financial support for strategic initiatives and ad-hoc analysis as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • Passion and drive to disrupt the lending and financial industry for the better
  • Strong sense of ownership, intention, intellectual curiosity, and ability to think creatively and critically
  • 5+ years of experience in fast-paced analytical roles, such as strategic finance, investment banking, consulting, data science, or analytics
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex financial information into clear, concise reports
  • High attention to detail and the ability to see the big picture and evaluate analyses with strategic business context
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the capability to navigate cross-functional collaborations effectively and present to company executives
  • Curiosity to build things, such as processes, models, or tools, with and around AI
  • Experience with merchant payments and/or providing analytical support to B2B client relationship and sales teams (a plus)
  • Excellent working proficiency in Excel and comfort with SQL, Looker, and/or other data visualization tools; Python knowledge is a plus

  • Experience building contextual models or files
  • Knowledge of machine learning modeling and its applications in finance
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and tools
