Job Description
About the Role
The Strategic Intelligence Manager will play a critical role in Coinbase's Protective Intelligence team, responsible for safeguarding the company's people, assets, and reputation. This involves setting the strategic direction for the Strategic Intelligence program, leading high-impact due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and delivering forward-looking geopolitical assessments. The successful candidate will be a subject-matter expert in reputational due diligence, geopolitical intelligence, and first-party diligence. The Protective Intelligence team operates at the intersection of security, risk management, and business strategy, making this role both challenging and rewarding. As a key member of the team, the Strategic Intelligence Manager will work closely with senior leadership, Corporate Development, and other stakeholders to inform business decisions and drive growth. Coinbase's remote-first approach offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the USA, with quarterly in-person working sessions to foster collaboration and innovation.What You Will Do
- Own the strategic direction and governance of Coinbase's Strategic Intelligence program
- Lead reputational due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships
- Deliver forward-looking geopolitical intelligence to inform business strategy and risk management
- Source and establish open and closed-source intelligence streams to stay ahead of emerging threats
- Build deep relationships with public and private-sector intelligence partners to enhance Coinbase's threat intelligence capabilities
- Design scalable, AI-enabled processes to increase program efficiency and reduce costs
- Mentor analysts, specialists, and contractors to elevate standards and build a high-performing team
- Communicate complex technical and business risks to senior audiences in written and verbal formats
- Apply systems thinking to anticipate second-order impacts and design for long-term resilience and scale
What We Are Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in intelligence, due diligence, geopolitical risk analysis, investigations, or related fields
- Recognized expertise in at least one intelligence domain
- Proven track record producing investigation and geopolitical risk reports that have directly informed business decisions
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives independently from problem identification through solution delivery
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to senior stakeholders
- Strong systems thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to anticipate second-order impacts and design for long-term resilience
- Experience with generative AI and human-in-the-loop safeguards
