About the Role

The Strategic Sales Manager role at Betterment is a critical component of the company's growth strategy, focusing on the West Coast territory of the United States. As a key player in the sales team, this position is responsible for identifying, engaging, and closing new business with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and financial advisory firms. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving revenue growth and building relationships within the advisor custody space.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with RIAs, financial advisors, and other wealth management firms within the West Coast region
  • Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with prospective and existing clients, acting as a trusted partner to help them leverage Betterment Advisor Solutions' custody solutions
  • Develop and execute a sales strategy that aligns with company goals, market demands, and client needs, ensuring consistent performance in meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  • Proactively manage your sales pipeline, identifying and prioritizing key opportunities within the West Coast territory, while managing time effectively across a wide geographic region
  • Work closely with the product, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure a seamless experience for clients and prospects, from first contact through onboarding
  • Stay current on trends and regulatory changes in the advisor custody space, with a particular focus on the needs and challenges of RIAs and financial advisors in the West Coast
  • Provide regular updates on sales activities, including pipeline updates, revenue forecasts, and competitive intelligence, to senior leadership
  • Utilize Salesforce and Excel to manage sales data, track performance, and analyze market trends
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement sales enablement tools and strategies

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the financial services industry, with a strong background in advisor custody or related sectors
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and building relationships with RIAs and financial advisory firms
  • Deep understanding of the advisor custody landscape, including regulatory requirements, operational challenges, and competitive offerings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex solutions in a clear and compelling manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Excel, with experience in sales data management and analysis
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field

  • Experience working with fintech solutions or asset management platforms
  • Knowledge of RIA platforms, custodians, or related sectors
  • Certification in financial services, such as CFP or CFA
  • Experience working in a remote sales environment, with a proven track record of success
