About the Role

The Success Engineer at Metabase plays a pivotal role in ensuring customers derive maximum value from their data. What You Will Do

  • Engage with customers to understand their data goals and challenges, providing tailored advice and support.
  • Design and optimize Metabase implementations to meet specific customer needs.
  • Guide customers through the process of integrating their data, transforming it into useful formats, and crafting queries to answer their questions.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the technical communications team to develop educational materials and resources that empower customers to get the most out of Metabase.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, providing critical feedback to the product and engineering teams to drive product development and improvements.
  • Participate in the development of best practices and standards for data analysis and visualization.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field of data analytics and business intelligence.
  • Contribute to the growth of Metabase's knowledge base and community through blog posts, webinars, or other content.
  • Engage with the broader data community to understand emerging needs and opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in writing production code, administering systems, and/or managing databases.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in at least two of the following areas: designing and developing web applications, managing infrastructure (e.g., Docker, AWS/GCP), or managing databases.
  • Excellent database and SQL skills, with the ability to optimize queries and troubleshoot database issues.
  • Experience working with customers or end-users, providing technical support, and driving adoption of technical products.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts into actionable advice.
  • Experience working in a remote, async environment, with self-motivation and discipline to manage time effectively.
  • Passion for data, analytics, and helping others understand and leverage their data for insights.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus, given Metabase's global user base.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Metabase or other business intelligence (BI) tools, and understanding of their strengths and limitations.
  • Background in working with open-source products, contributing to open-source projects, or participating in developer communities.
