About the Role

The Supplier Deal Manager is a critical component of Stripe's Procurement organization, responsible for building an efficient supplier contracting process and reducing friction for business leaders. Reporting to the Head of Supplier Deal Management, this role will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into a risk-balanced approach to prepare contracts. As a key member of the Procurement team, the Supplier Deal Manager will partner with Legal, Sourcing, and Third Party Risk teams to minimize risk and increase the velocity at which Stripe can engage key suppliers.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial and legal language commonly used within commercial contracts and will be able to review and draft contractual language with ease. They will also have experience with contract negotiations and be an effective partner to legal teams. A solution-oriented mindset and enthusiasm for establishing contracting best practices are essential for this role.

Stripe's Procurement organization is committed to providing services to the businesses that are the backbone of the company. The team consists of Third Party Risk, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Deal Management, Procurement Enablement, A/P & T&E, and is responsible for driving agreements efficiently and minimizing risk.

What You Will Do

  • Answer initial questions and educate business leaders on the overall risk assessment and supplier contracting process
  • Conduct initial review of use cases and prepare agreements for legal review according to defined guidelines
  • Review and negotiate commercials in supplier agreements when necessary
  • Keep a close eye on productivity and communication with stakeholders using our procurement tool
  • Engage internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into a risk-balanced approach to prepare contracts
  • Manage engagements within our Procurement System and Contract Lifecycle Management system
  • Support end-to-end contract lifecycle management
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve business inquiries and troubleshoot issues related to contracting
  • Collaborate with the Legal team to ensure contracts are compliant with company policies and regulations
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Stripe's contracting process and procedures

  • 8 years of professional experience in contracting or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to understand commercial and legal language commonly used within commercial contracts
  • Experience with contract negotiations and being an effective partner to legal teams

  • Ability to earn trust quickly and deliver value for a critical and fast-paced function
