Job Description

About the Role

The Synthetic Population Engineer plays a critical role in developing and refining Epistemix's synthetic population, a statistically representative model of real people and their environments. This innovative technology enables customers to solve complex problems in domains where empirical data is limited or unavailable. As a key member of the synthetic populations team, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of the synthetic population into Epistemix's platform.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve identifying and evaluating empirical datasets to enrich the synthetic population, utilizing simulation techniques to project future demographic trends, and improving the geographical plausibility of synthetic environments. The Synthetic Population Engineer will also work closely with external vendors and marketplaces to expand the ecosystem of data providers that can be integrated with the synthetic population.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and evaluate empirical datasets to enrich the synthetic population
  • Utilize simulation techniques, including ABMs, to project future demographic trends
  • Improve the geographical plausibility of synthetic environments
  • Expand the geographical region covered by the Epistemix synthetic population
  • Create visualizations for marketing and productizing synthetic populations
  • Develop innovative methods for supporting external users in augmenting Epistemix synthetic populations with their own proprietary data
  • Work with external vendors and marketplaces to expand the ecosystem of data providers that can be integrated with the synthetic population
  • Support the synthetic populations team in engaging with customer success, professional services, and engineering teams to understand project-specific synthetic population requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of the synthetic population into Epistemix's platform
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation of the synthetic population

What We Are Looking For

  • Proficient experience in using Python for data science applications
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
