About the Role

The System Software Engineer role at Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a hybrid position that combines the flexibility of remote work with the collaboration of in-office work, averaging 2 days per week from an HPE office. This role is crucial for the development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs, enhancing existing products and creating new ones. As part of a dynamic team, the successful candidate will work closely with other software engineers and development partners to design and develop high-quality, cost-effective software solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
  • Develop software for operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
  • Determine hardware compatibility and influence hardware design as necessary.
  • Code and program enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of systems software.
  • Execute established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code, identifying, logging, and debugging issues as they arise.
  • Develop relationships with internal and outsourced development partners to understand software systems design and development.
  • Participate as a member of a project team to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for moderately complex products.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to share knowledge, best practices, and to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to the improvement of software development processes and standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Typically 2-3 years of experience in software development, preferably in a related field.
  • Secure coding practices and knowledge of cyber security principles.
  • Proficiency in C# and .NET Framework.
  • Experience with object-oriented design methodology and Windows, Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of SAFe, Agile, or SCRUM development methodologies.
  • Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and experience with SQL Server or DB Developer.
  • Familiarity with HTTPS, REST-based APIs, Web Development, and HTML5.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Perl.
  • Knowledge of revision control processes and tools like GitHub.
  • Experience with continuous integration processes such as Jenkins and Docker/Containers.
