About the Role

The Systems Engineer, Platform Requirements and Verification role at Waabi is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of vehicle platform requirements, safety standards, and verification methodologies. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for creating, documenting, and verifying vehicle platform requirements, ensuring that they are met and exceeded. Day-to-day, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Systems Engineering, Hardware, and Software, to drive the development of a highly autonomous vehicle platform. As a central point of contact, you will communicate updates, progress, and potential roadblocks to stakeholders at all levels, requiring strong communication and project management skills.

What You Will Do

  • Own the creation, documentation, alignment, and verification of vehicle platform requirements at Waabi.
  • Define ways to describe and evaluate requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Bring an in-depth understanding of sensors, compute, and actuators used in self-driving vehicles.
  • Drive an architecture with requirements that generate a simple yet safe highly autonomous vehicle platform.
  • Act as a central point of contact for specific vehicle platform requirements and related tests.
  • Communicate updates, progress, and potential roadblocks to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Help drive Waabi's safety culture through the application of safety standards and methodologies.
  • Define necessary improvements for Waabi's highly realistic simulator.
  • Work with other teams to design and implement these improvements.
  • Own the writing and tracking of tests and test executions in line with company project milestones.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance Waabi's vehicle platform capabilities.
  • Implement tools and methodologies to streamline and automate the vehicle platform requirement processes.

What We Are Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree required; Master's or Ph.D. within an engineering discipline preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive, robotics, aerospace, or related industry.
  • Experience with requirements specifications and metrics.
  • Experience with executing complex vehicle test campaigns.
  • Strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering, and physics.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle dynamics.
  • Excellent data analysis skills with modern tools such as Python or Matlab.
  • Experience with methods and standards such as ISO 26262, SOTIF (ISO 21448), and/or UL 4600.
  • Open-minded and collaborative leader who is eager to provide guidance and help others.
  • Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions.
