About the Role

The Tax Accountant position at GBS Group is a critical role that involves working on various tax assignments, collaborating with team members, and providing expert tax guidance to clients. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing tax returns, analyzing financial information, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires a strong foundation in US tax preparation, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients in both English and Spanish.

In this role, the Tax Accountant will work closely with a diverse team of multi-disciplinary consultants to ensure that clients receive high-quality services and achieve their business goals. What You Will Do

  • Prepare various tax returns, including 1040, 1040NR, FBAR, 1120, 1120S, 1120F, 1065, and 5471
  • Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities for clients
  • Review and process incoming financial documentation, such as bank statements and client documentation
  • Facilitate clients to ensure they are complying with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Perform additional accounting and tax-related responsibilities as assigned
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality services and achieve business goals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication and expertise
  • Stay up-to-date with current and emerging tax laws and strategies
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and improve skills
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all work products

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • 5+ years of experience in tax preparation and accounting
  • Advanced level of English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Tax Programs
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience working in a CPA or Bookkeeping firm
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Experience working with UltraTax CS
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification, or active pursuit of certification
