About the Role
Katz, Sapper & Miller, one of the top 50 largest independent advisory, tax, and audit firms in the United States, is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join their team. This role is pivotal in managing tax returns, overseeing client relationships, and supervising staff members to ensure the delivery of high-quality services. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of tax laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.The Tax Manager will be an integral part of the firm's tax department, working closely with clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored tax solutions. This involves maintaining contact with clients throughout the year, possessing thorough knowledge of the client's business, and planning, scheduling, and staffing engagements according to firm policies and procedures. The role also entails supervising staff, providing on-the-job training, and reviewing tax returns and related work papers prepared by staff, including performance evaluations.

What You Will Do
- Possess a complete knowledge of the firm's philosophy on financial, tax, and consulting matters, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
- Maintain contact with clients throughout the year, understanding all facets of the client's business.
- Plan, schedule, and staff engagements using firm policies and procedures.
- Supervise staff, provide on-the-job training, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Review tax returns and related work papers prepared by staff.
- Anticipate problem areas of engagement and develop procedures to address those problem areas.
- Keep supervisors informed of important developments and recommend solutions.
- Communicate progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to clients through written and oral correspondences.
- Prepare invoices to clients, communicate details of fees to clients, and assist in the collection of overdue accounts.
- Maintain knowledge of general economic and political trends and possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.
What We Are Looking For
- A minimum of five years of experience in accounting and tax, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed.
- Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA firm.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting.
- Minimum of forty hours of continuing professional education each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills.
- A current and valid certified public accountant's license.
- Membership in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various accounting and tax computer software, including Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and supervise staff.
