About the Role

The Technical Account Manager position at Plaid is a critical role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and interpersonal skills. As a key member of the Data Partnerships team, you will be responsible for managing complex relationships with high-growth fintechs and established financial institutions. Your primary objective will be to design and execute technical strategies that build trust with data partners, drive business growth, and empower the development of innovative financial products.

As a technical account manager, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including partnership managers, product teams, and engineering teams. You will be the primary driver of technical strategies that enable data partners to make data sharing reliable, secure, and valuable for everyone in the open finance ecosystem. Your ability to communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences will be essential in this role.

The Data Partnerships team at Plaid is dedicated to enabling data partners of all sizes to make data sharing reliable, secure, and valuable for everyone in the open finance ecosystem. As a technical account manager, you will be an integral part of this mission, working closely with partnership managers and other cross-functional teams to drive business growth and innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the technical strategy and roadmap with financial institutions and fintechs, identifying key areas of improvement for enterprise API integrations
  • Intake requests from product teams regarding discovery sessions, beta testing, and product launches
  • Collaborate with partnership managers to develop the integration roadmap and overall account plan, executing on strategies to drive priorities
  • Complete technical scoping, build, and launch new API integrations
  • Serve as the connective tissue between Plaid engineering, product teams, and data partners for all issues with outsized customer impact across all integration types
  • Document and communicate technical and roadmap updates to necessary teams, allowing Plaid to accurately adjust planning and resources
  • Provide clear technical direction on all aspects of Plaid's institution integrations and products
  • Establish and own external relationships with multiple levels of technical stakeholders, from engineers to CPOs/CTOs
  • Validate and document technical needs, business objectives, and metrics for data partners
  • Be an advocate for innovation and early adoption of Plaid products and solutions available to fintechs and financial institutions
  • Serve as the escalation point for technical incidents or issues that have surfaced with higher-than-normal impact across Plaid support channels
  • Help uncover additional opportunities aligned with the account management strategy and company goals

What We Are Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in a client-facing and/or technology-focused role, combining business experience and technical acumen
  • Experience managing external relationships independently and building/executing technical strategies to make partners/clients successful with new technologies
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with a strong ability to provide technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Deep understanding of APIs, databases, system infrastructures, and related technologies
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Adjust and Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complexities
  • Experience working with financial institutions and fintechs, preferably in a technical account management role
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the financial services sector

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and data analytics platforms
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, such as SOC 2 and GDPR
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
