Technical Accountant

About the Role

The role entails a deep understanding of US GAAP standards, including ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842, ASC 805, and ASC 360, as well as the ability to research, draft, and defend technical accounting memos and position papers. The Technical Accountant will also be responsible for contributing to the development of internal controls, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.

As a Technical Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and operations, to provide financial guidance and support.

What You Will Do

• Provide US GAAP guidance and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
• Research, draft, and defend technical accounting memos and position papers on complex accounting topics
• Contribute to the development of internal controls, including the design and implementation of new processes and procedures
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller, Legal, FP&A, and external auditors to drive the development of the company's accounting infrastructure
• Develop and maintain technical accounting documentation, including accounting policies and procedures
• Provide training and support to finance team members on US GAAP and technical accounting topics
• Participate in the review and approval of financial statements and other external reports
• Stay up-to-date with changes in US GAAP and regulatory requirements, ensuring the company's accounting practices remain current and compliant
• Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration

What We Are Looking For

• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842, ASC 805, and ASC 360
• Demonstrated experience researching, drafting, and defending technical accounting memos and position papers
• Experience building or contributing to an internal controls environment, ideally in a pre-IPO or public company context
• CPA, ACA, or ACCA qualification (active)
• Big 4 or public accounting background
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply technical accounting knowledge to complex business issues
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results

• Experience with financial planning and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting
• Knowledge of accounting software and systems, including ERP and financial reporting tools
