About the Role
The Technical Intelligence Analyst plays a crucial role in identifying and mitigating abuse and strategic risks to ensure a safe online ecosystem. As part of the Intelligence and Investigations team, this position will work closely with internal and external partners to implement effective mitigation strategies and inform safety decisions. The team's efforts contribute to Openai's overarching goal of developing AI that benefits humanity, and this role will be instrumental in achieving that mission.The Strategic Intelligence & Analysis team provides safety intelligence for Openai's products by monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting real-world abuse, geopolitical risks, and strategic threats. The team's work informs safety mitigations, product decisions, and partnerships, ensuring Openai's tools are deployed securely and responsibly across critical sectors.
What You Will Do
- Design and maintain analytical tools, evaluation methodologies, and quality metrics for intelligence workflows
- Provide structure and technical rigor to analyst-built prototypes, redesigning workflows to be generalizable across use cases
- Transform recurring needs into reusable templates, notebooks, graders, and lightweight tools
- Surface novel harms and abuse patterns across a range of ecosystems and behaviors
- Build rapid analysis workflows around emerging risks
- Deliver, monitor, and maintain risk tools and dashboards
- Use SQL, Python, and AI-powered tools to improve analysis speed, coverage, and consistency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform product decisions and implement safety mitigations
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the field of technical intelligence
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in technical intelligence, integrity, trust and safety, operational risk, or a related quantitative risk domain
- Strong skills in SQL and Python, including querying, organizing, and transforming complex datasets
- Experience delivering zero-to-one analyses and turning them into reusable playbooks, workflows, or lightweight tools
- Familiarity with anomaly detection tools, such as PyOD, and discovery processes for surfacing novel or low-prevalence patterns
- Ability to learn new systems, processes, datasets, and team dynamics quickly
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex findings and uncertainty
- Experience working in a fast-moving environment with ambiguous and changing priorities
