About the Role
The Technical Leader position at GE Vernova is a critical role that involves leading and mentoring a team of technical professionals with a focus on work planning, technical approach, design assurance, and execution excellence. This role is essential in driving the success of new build and modernization projects across various plant disciplines, including instrumentation, control, and monitoring system design, digital control systems, and networking. As a Technical Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating across matrixed engineering teams to assess project requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure the successful execution of projects.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and business leaders, to drive project completion and ensure that all deliverables are produced and commitments met on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. A key aspect of this role is the ability to lead and mentor team members, providing technical oversight and guidance to ensure that system designs and deliverables comply with requirements throughout the design release to manufacturing or supplier, including production, validation, installation, and commission tests.
Given the complexity and scope of projects, the Technical Leader must be able to drive compliance with scope, level 5 work plan, budget, overall schedule, applicable design processes, and discipline-specific practices and tools, including design and technical reviews. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and the ability to collaborate proactively and inclusively with the overall team across other engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives.
What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor a team of technical professionals to ensure work planning, technical approach, design assurance, and execution excellence.
- Coordinate across matrixed engineering teams to assess RFIs/RFPs, analyze plant system requirements, operations, and maintenance goals.
- Develop and prepare proposals with scope, conformance matrix, and risk scorecard, work plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Support business and product line leaders in the ITO commercial risk review process, marketing initiatives, bid proposals, RFQ evaluation, and technical recommendations.
- Lead the preparation of high-through-low work planning, scheduling, and resource loading across lifecycle phases.
- Collaborate proactively and inclusively with the overall team across other engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives.
- Support project engineering or manager with understanding execution metrics and status, issues, risks, mitigation, or recovering plans.
- Identify, confirm, document, and lead the resolution of technical, risk, and other emergent issues.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to ensure system designs and deliverables comply with requirements.
- Assist with hosting learning sessions, knowledge capture, and transfer initiatives.
- Champion conformance with regulations and guides, standard review plans, branch technical positions, and industry standards.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics, or an equivalent 4-year technical degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the heavy industrial, thermal power, or nuclear industry, working in plant instrumentation application, control, and monitoring system design, digital control systems, networking, and data communications architecture definition.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of technical professionals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across matrixed engineering teams and with business leaders.
- Strong technical expertise in Excel, software development, and system design.
- Experience with design and technical reviews, and the ability to drive compliance with scope, level 5 work plan, budget, and overall schedule.
- Knowledge of applicable design processes and discipline-specific practices and tools.
- Ability to champion nuclear safety culture and ensure compliance with GEH policies, quality management system, and corrective action program.
