About the Role

The Technical Program Manager, Service Infrastructure role at Stripe represents a unique opportunity to drive technical innovation and lead large-scale programs that impact the entire company. As part of the infrastructure teams, you will work closely with engineering and product management leaders to improve internal platforms, enable product engineering teams, and solve complex problems. Your day-to-day will involve planning, communications, and steering the execution of technical programs that have a significant impact on Stripe's products and services.

The infrastructure teams at Stripe are responsible for providing efficient and optimized infrastructure for the company to build secure, reliable, and differentiated products. They enable developers to have the most productive results of their entire career from the very first days they join Stripe through years of developing new systems and products. As a Technical Program Manager in this team, you will play a key role in shaping the technical design of service infrastructure, predicting technical roadblocks, and identifying trade-offs.

What You Will Do

  • Work with teams across the organization to understand pain points in their infrastructure usage and find common ideas to create solutions that span multiple domains
  • Define and produce high-quality written proposals, communications, and documentation
  • Help define the frameworks, async platforms, and tooling used to write and operate all Stripe products
  • Partner with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Engineers, and other Technical Program Managers to define, scope, and drive large migration programs to conclusion
  • Play a key part in shaping the technical design, predicting technical roadblocks, and identifying trade-offs
  • Develop, implement, and iterate on program management techniques, frameworks, and KPIs to achieve goals with well-defined success criteria
  • Elevate the execution muscle of engineering teams around you, training them to be better at delivery where needed
  • Help influence peers and stakeholders, and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity
  • Leverage data and acquired knowledge to drive strategic decisions at an engineering leadership level
  • Create widely circulated plans, driving consistency, clarity, and building alignment across teams
  • Operationalize and execute critical cross-functional programs spanning Stripe engineering organizations

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong technical background with experience in program management, preferably in a financial technology or related industry
  • Excellent communication, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and design
  • Experience with large-scale technical programs, including planning, execution, and delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and identify creative solutions
  • Experience with data analysis and the ability to drive decisions with data
  • Strong understanding of technical infrastructure, including service-oriented architecture and cloud computing
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
  • Knowledge of financial systems, payment processing, and related technologies
  • Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related fields
  • Certification in program management, such as Agile, Scrum, or PMP
