About the Role

The Technical Project Manager position at Steampunk is a key role that involves leading the complete life cycle of solution development and delivery for government clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining successful relationships with clients, identifying new opportunities, and driving high-level strategic initiatives.

The role requires a deep understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to provide Scrum Master support to Agile teams. The Technical Project Manager will work closely with product owners and stakeholders to prioritize the backlog, create release schedules, and establish technical practices and release management standards. What You Will Do

  • Lead the project tasking and delivery in a government client consulting environment
  • Manage and maintain successful relationships with clients, identifying new opportunities and driving high-level strategic initiatives
  • Develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, manage remote project delivery teams, and facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot project implementation issues
  • Assess the current organization and delivery environment, recommending optimal Agile practices tailored to the client
  • Provide Agile Scrum Master support, attending Agile ceremonies and providing input as needed
  • Remove blockers to ensure project success, coaching the Product Owner and team on backlog refinement and prioritization
  • Handle challenging client situations, offering technical and business guidance and direction to client executives
  • Lead and manage staff, monitoring staff performance and evaluating project feasibility
  • Eliminate non-productive tasking and find creative ways to ensure project delivery, assisting staff with training needs to create skills expansion and career advancement opportunities

What We Are Looking For

  • 8 years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a complex engineering environment with prior experience as a technical project manager
  • Ability to establish trust with a variety of stakeholders and customers
  • Self-managed and self-starter, ability to work independently
  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in Information Technology or related field
  • PMP, Scrum Master certification is preferred
  • Ability to hold a position of public trust with the US government
  • Strong judgment, negotiation skills, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Experience with Excel and other project management tools
