About the Role
The Temporary Online Course Developer role at Brandeis University is a unique opportunity for an experienced academic and curriculum strategist to design and build a new online course focused on advanced cloud engineering and intelligent infrastructure automation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Brandeis Online staff to create a comprehensive and engaging online course that meets the institutional learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and workforce relevance. The course will delve into cloud engineering practices, infrastructure automation, distributed systems, and scaling patterns, emphasizing platform-agnostic concepts such as resource optimization, workload distribution, and automated environment provisioning.As a key member of the team, the Online Course Developer will be responsible for designing and building asynchronous, instructor-facilitated online courses that align with the university's academic standards and online course development guidelines. The role will involve collaborating with staff, adhering to technical requirements for LMS integration, and meeting project milestones. The course drafts will be submitted at designated intervals for feedback, and final approval will be contingent upon a comprehensive design review by a Learning Designer and Brandeis Online.

What You Will Do
- Design and build a new online course focused on advanced cloud engineering and intelligent infrastructure automation
- Collaborate with Brandeis Online staff to create a comprehensive and engaging online course
- Develop a Brandeis-compliant syllabus and instructor-created materials informed by current industry knowledge
- Create learning objects, applied assignments, and assessments aligned to course and program outcomes
- Uphold Brandeis's academic standards and online course development guidelines
- Collaborate with staff to adhere to technical requirements for LMS integration and meet project milestones
- Submit course drafts at designated intervals for feedback and final approval
- Design and build asynchronous, instructor-facilitated online courses that align with institutional learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and workforce relevance
- Develop course materials that emphasize platform-agnostic concepts such as resource optimization, workload distribution, and automated environment provisioning
- Ensure that the course is accessible and engaging for adult learners in a higher education setting
What We Are Looking For
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field
- Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, distributed systems, or platform engineering
- Demonstrated expertise with cloud architecture and infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines)
- Experience designing scalable, resilient cloud environments and automated provisioning workflows across enterprise platforms
- At least 1 year of teaching or training experience (preferably online/asynchronous)
- Minimum 1 year of experience developing asynchronous online courses for adult learners in higher education
- Proficiency with LMS platforms and digital authoring tools
- Familiarity with analytical tools, collaborative platforms, and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Strong communication, organization, and independent work skills
- Familiarity with curriculum design, accreditation standards, and graduate-level rigor
Nice to Have
- Doctorate (PhD or DBA) in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering leadership, or infrastructure strategy within enterprise environments
- Professional experience as a Cloud Architect, Platform Engineer, Infrastructure Architect, or DevOps Engineering Lead
- Industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional), Google Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent
- Experience teaching or developing graduate-level online courses
