Job Description

About the Role

Plaid is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join its newly formed AI Applications Team. As a founding member, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of AI-powered products and features at Plaid. Your primary focus will be on architecting, designing, and implementing GenAI-powered solutions that drive business impact. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AI engineers, software engineers, and machine learning engineers, to identify opportunities for AI adoption and develop scalable solutions.

The AI Applications Team is dedicated to consolidating and rapidly scaling Plaid's successful bets in AI, with a focus on rethinking how the company operates and interacts with customers. Your contributions will help Plaid transform into an AI-first company, empowering the development of innovative financial products and experiences.

What You Will Do

  • Work with other AI engineers, software engineers, and machine learning engineers to architect, design, and implement GenAI-powered products and features
  • Collaborate across functions to understand user needs and propose AI-powered solutions with high impact potential
  • Design and execute rapid experiments to push the boundaries of potential business impact from emerging AI capabilities
  • Balance creative exploration of possibilities with rigorous evaluation of technical feasibility, product potential, and business impact
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for AI-powered products and features
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in AI, machine learning, and software engineering
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to integrate AI-powered insights into products and features
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and designers

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design and API development
  • Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-powered products, with a focus on iterating with real user feedback
  • Practical experience with prompt engineering, natural language processing, and machine learning
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Strong understanding of computer science concepts, including data structures and algorithms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DevOps tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
  • Knowledge of fintech industry trends and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
