Job Description

About the Role

The Therapy Development Manager role at Abbott is a critical position that partners with the US sales organization to establish new accounts, sustain existing ones, and provide advanced technical support. This role requires a deep understanding of DBS programs and the ability to work closely with healthcare professionals, hospital administration, and surgical support staff. As a key member of the team, the Therapy Development Manager will report to senior management and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve building and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders, identifying business opportunities, and developing strategies to capture new accounts. The Therapy Development Manager will also provide training and support to sales representatives, both new and experienced, to ensure they have the necessary skills to succeed in their roles.

What You Will Do

  • Establish new accounts by building DBS programs from the ground up or capturing business from competitive strongholds
  • Sustain existing accounts by providing bridging expert procedural support and accelerated backfill training
  • Rescue endangered accounts by performing situational analysis and implementing corrective action plans
  • Lead US launch of new products, platforms, and indications
  • Provide advanced procedural, programming, and troubleshooting support
  • Support business development initiatives, customer experience visits, and professional education events
  • Collaborate with global marketing organization to support new hire, advanced, and field-based sales training
  • Provide feedback to upstream and downstream marketing teams
  • Participate in global product launches and conferences
  • Engage with key opinion leaders and develop strategic relationships
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitive intelligence

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific or medical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device product areas or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a therapy-specific role
  • Direct sales experience and technical expertise in DBS programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed (up to 50%)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry trends and regulations
  • Certification in a related field, such as medical sales or marketing
