## About the Role The Trade Advisory Lead position at Flexport is a critical role that involves leading and mentoring a team of trade advisory professionals. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of customs and trade regulations, as well as excellent leadership and project management skills. As a key member of the Flexport team, the Trade Advisory Lead will play a vital role in helping clients navigate the complex world of global trade. The global supply chain is a heavily regulated industry, with multiple stakeholders involved, including carriers, intermediaries, trucking companies, and shippers. The Trade Advisory team at Flexport is composed of business consultants, lawyers, and licensed customs brokers who provide advanced customs and trade expertise to help clients identify supply chain risks and cost savings opportunities. As a Trade Advisory Lead, you will be responsible for leading trade advisory projects that focus on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies. This will involve performing and coordinating trade advisory analytics and reporting, as well as monitoring deadlines and drafting client deliverables. You will also be required to stay up-to-date with the latest customs and government agency regulations, and to educate the team on these developments. ## What You Will Do - Lead and manage trade advisory projects that focus on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies - Perform, coordinate, and support trade advisory analytics and reporting from a variety of sources - Monitor deadlines and draft client deliverables for multiple projects at a given time - Stay informed on the latest customs and government agency regulations, and educate the team on these developments - Ensure project timelines, statuses, and invoices are appropriately managed and delivered - Coordinate and facilitate software solutions, automation of data analytics, and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) - Interface with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and clients, and offer timely responses - Maintain active communication with clients, customs and other government authorities, and internal stakeholders - Support trade advisory infrastructure and administrative requirements, contributing to team development and best practices - Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the global supply chain and trade regulations - Collaborate with other teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities - Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity ## What We Are Looking For - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification required - J.D. or graduate degree highly preferred - 5-7 years of trade-related experience, preferably in a customs brokerage, consulting, or law firm environment - Demonstrated leadership experience and strong technical and business writing skills - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to stay on top of multiple tasks and projects - Expertise with Microsoft Office suite and Google equivalents - Strong data analytical skills and industry knowledge, including classification, valuation, reconciliation, and duty minimization strategies - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively - Strong communication and project management skills - Experience with software solutions, data analytics, and process improvement ## Nice to Have - Experience with automation of data analytics and process improvement - Knowledge of international trade agreements and regulations, such as the USMCA and the EU's Generalized System of Preferences - Familiarity with customs brokerage software and systems, such as ABI and ACE - Experience with trade compliance and duty minimization strategies, including free trade agreements (FTAs) and foreign trade zones (FTZs) - Certification in a related field, such as a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or a Certified Trade Professional (CTP) ## Benefits and Perks - Competitive salary and benefits package - Opportunity to work with a fast-growing and innovative company - Collaborative and dynamic work environment - Professional development and growth opportunities - Flexible and remote work arrangements - Access to cutting-edge technology and software - Comprehensive health and wellness benefits - Generous paid time off and holiday policy - Retirement savings plan and matching program - Employee recognition and reward programs
