About the Role
The Trade Advisory Lead role at Flexport is a critical position that requires expertise in customs and trade regulations. As a leader in the Trade Advisory team, you will be responsible for managing trade advisory projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and identifying cost savings opportunities for clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams, staying informed about the latest customs regulations, and educating team members on industry trends.The Trade Advisory team at Flexport is composed of business consultants, lawyers, and licensed customs brokers who provide advanced customs and trade expertise to clients. As a Trade Advisory Lead, you will be an integral part of this team, leading and mentoring other team members to address trade issues that matter to clients.

What You Will Do
- Lead and manage trade advisory projects that focus on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies
- Perform, coordinate, and support Trade Advisory analytics and reporting from various sources
- Monitor deadlines and draft client deliverables for multiple projects at a given time
- Proactively stay informed on the latest customs and government agency regulations, ruling issuances, and industry trends
- Ensure project timelines, statuses, and invoices are appropriately managed and delivered
- Coordinate and facilitate software solutions, automation of data analytics, and improvement of SOPs
- Interface with CBP and clients, offering timely responses and elevating issues when necessary
- Maintain active communication with clients, customs and other government authorities, and internal stakeholders
- Support Trade Advisory infrastructure and administrative requirements, contributing to team development and best practices
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Licensed Customs Broker required, J.D. or graduate degree highly preferred
- 5-7 years of trade-related experience working in-house, at customs brokerage, consulting, or law firm
- Strong technical and business writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to stay on top of multiple tasks and projects
- Expertise with Microsoft Office suite and Google equivalents
- Strong data analytical skills
- Strong industry knowledge, including classification, valuation, reconciliation, duty minimization, and avoidance strategies
Nice to Have
- Experience with software solutions and automation of data analytics
- Knowledge of international trade agreements and regulations
- Certification in a related field, such as customs brokerage or supply chain management
