## About the Role As a Trade Advisory Lead at Flexport, you will play a critical role in helping clients navigate the complex world of global trade. Your expertise in trade compliance and duty minimization will be essential in driving the company's trade advisory services forward. You will lead and mentor a team of trade advisory specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to clients. The global supply chain is one of the most heavily regulated industries, with a myriad of laws and regulations governing every aspect of international trade. As a Trade Advisory Lead, you will be responsible for staying up-to-date on the latest customs regulations, ruling issuances, and industry trends, and for educating your team on these developments. You will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about making global commerce easy and efficient. Your role will involve collaborating with various stakeholders, including clients, customs brokers, and other government agencies, to provide expert trade advisory services.
## What You Will Do - Lead and manage trade advisory projects, focusing on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies - Perform, coordinate, and support trade advisory analytics and reporting from various sources - Monitor deadlines and draft client deliverables for multiple projects, ensuring high quality and timely delivery - Proactively stay informed on the latest customs and government agency regulations, ruling issuances, and industry trends - Educate the team on new developments and provide guidance on trade advisory services - Ensure project timelines, statuses, and invoices are appropriately managed and delivered - Coordinate and facilitate software solutions, automation of data analytics, and improvement of standard operating procedures - Interface with clients, customs brokers, and other government agencies, providing timely responses and elevating issues as necessary - Maintain active communication with clients, customs authorities, and internal stakeholders, representing the trade advisory team - Support trade advisory infrastructure and administrative requirements, contributing to team development and best practices
## What We Are Looking For - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Licensed Customs Broker required, J.D. or graduate degree highly preferred - 5-7 years of trade-related experience, working in-house, at a customs brokerage, consulting, or law firm - Demonstrated leadership experience and strong technical and business writing skills - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively - Expertise with Microsoft Office suite and Google equivalents - Strong data analytical skills and industry knowledge, including classification, valuation, reconciliation, and duty minimization strategies
## Nice to Have - Experience with software solutions and automation of data analytics - Knowledge of ACE portal access, applications, and integrations - Familiarity with government regulations and ruling issuances - Experience working with clients and customs authorities - Strong presentation and communication skills
