About the Role

The Translator position at LocalEyes is a remote, freelancer basis role that involves translating content from English US to English UK. This role is crucial in supporting clients throughout the product information and content lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with CAT tools and have a passion for technology, particularly in the fields of software, marketing, and legal content. As a translator, you will be working on a variety of projects, including software and marketing materials, with the goal of delivering high-quality translations that meet the client's requirements. You will be part of a dedicated team of linguists who are committed to providing excellent service to clients. The role is ongoing, with a flexible start date, and the project duration will vary depending on the client's needs.

What You Will Do

  • Translate content from English US to English UK, ensuring that the target text accurately reflects the meaning of the source text.
  • Perform linguistic tasks as per project instructions and other references, such as translation memory, glossary, style guides, etc.
  • Ensure high grammatical accuracy while maintaining key terminology, spotting inconsistencies, and incorrect cultural references.
  • Correct formatting, tagging, punctuation, country specifics, terminology, style, and fluency according to guidelines.
  • Use CAT tools, such as SDL Studio, to manage translations and ensure consistency.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that translations meet the client's requirements.
  • Conduct research to stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in translation.
  • Provide feedback to other translators and editors to ensure that the quality of translations is consistently high.

What We Are Looking For

  • Native fluency in English UK, with a degree in Applied Linguistics, Translation, or equivalent experience.
  • IT skills, with knowledge and experience of CAT tools, particularly SDL Studio.
  • Experience as a translator, preferably in the fields of software, marketing, and/or legal content.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.

Nice to Have

  • Experience translating content containing embedded variables in an XML environment.
  • Knowledge of proprietary localization tool sets.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
