What You Will Do

  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet company and investor quality standards
  • Manage a pipeline of loan files, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Conduct thorough reviews of credit reports, income, and collateral to make informed decisions about loan approvals
  • Clear underwriting conditions and review appraisal reports
  • Communicate with customers and loan officers to resolve issues and provide updates on loan status
  • Stay current on regulatory requirements and industry standards, including those set by FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to develop and implement best practices
  • Review and update underwriting guidelines and procedures as needed
  • Participate in quality control audits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and support to junior underwriters as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of residential mortgage products and regulatory requirements
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office products and Encompass
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with loan origination systems and software
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices

  • Experience with mortgage banking software and technology
