About the Role
The Underwriting Assistant role at One80 Intermediaries is a critical support function for the company's insurance underwriting operations. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for determining the eligibility of incoming commercial insurance submissions, using underwriting tools and historical reports to make sound underwriting decisions. Your work will have a direct impact on the company's ability to maintain a profitable and well-managed book of business.In this role, you will work closely with senior underwriters to review motor vehicle records, determine eligibility for drivers, and re-rate or revise ratings as needed. You will also be responsible for documenting underwriting decisions and ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

What You Will Do
- Determine the eligibility of incoming commercial insurance submissions
- Use underwriting tools and historical reports to make sound underwriting decisions
- Review motor vehicle records and determine eligibility for drivers
- Re-rate or revise ratings as needed
- Document underwriting decisions
- Work with senior underwriters to maintain a profitable and well-managed book of business
- Support account servicing, eligibility evaluation, and post-sale client servicing
- Use Excel to analyze data and make informed underwriting decisions
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes in insurance regulations
- Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge and best practices
What We Are Looking For
- Proven insurance underwriting knowledge, with commercial auto and package risks
- Minimum of two years of insurance account administration experience, preferably with commercial auto and package business
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field
- Home state Property & Casualty insurance license preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Insurance industry educational certification(s) a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience with underwriting software and systems
- Knowledge of transportation industry trends and developments
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance issues
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
