About the Role

The Underwriting Practices and Quality Assurance Senior Consultant plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of underwriting decisions at Westfield. This involves reviewing files, analyzing data, and developing underwriting policy to support the company's goals. As a key member of the underwriting team, this professional will work closely with colleagues to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance the underwriting process.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of underwriting principles and practices, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills. They will be responsible for reviewing files, identifying trends, and providing insights to support business decisions. In this role, you will report to the Underwriting Practices and Quality Assurance Manager and work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Review underwriting files to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures
  • Analyze data to identify trends and provide insights to support business decisions
  • Develop and maintain underwriting policy and procedures
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure consistency and accuracy in underwriting decisions
  • Collaborate with underwriters to provide guidance and support on complex accounts
  • Participate in calibration sessions to ensure consistency in file review processes
  • Communicate file review findings to region leaders and underwriters
  • Review comments by underwriters to determine if adjustments to the file review are appropriate
  • Lead specialty audits and develop narrative reports with findings and recommendations
  • Utilize quality assurance software to capture file review findings
  • Conduct administrative and maintenance duties on software and work with vendors to ensure appropriate functioning

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in middle market insurance underwriting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business, or related experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience with underwriting software and technology
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
