About the Role

As a Community Engagement Officer at NRG Consulting Group, you will play a vital role in connecting the organization to the broader reuse and environmental justice movement. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve running the Reuse Solutions Network (RSN), managing shared online platforms, and supporting policy and funding tracking across the team. This role requires someone who can see across the full organization, bringing insights from external engagement back into the strategy in real-time.

The Community Engagement Officer will work closely with key allied organizations, identifying opportunities to connect dots between groups working towards shared goals and creating resources to support the broader reuse and policy community. This role also represents the organization through speaking engagements and policy advocacy at the state and local level.

What You Will Do

  • Run the Reuse Solutions Network (RSN), serving as the primary point of coordination for network members and activities
  • Facilitate RSN sessions with large member groups, requiring skilled facilitation to manage group dynamics and drive productive outcomes
  • Lead collaborative discussions across the full team to plan RSN programming, ensuring policy, communications, and strategic initiatives inform and benefit from the network's direction
  • Present key insights and themes from RSN meetings to the full team during all-team meetings
  • Manage Basecamp and the RSP Hub, keeping shared online platforms organized and up-to-date
  • Manage the Policy and Funding Trackers, ensuring information stays current and accessible to support team planning
  • Engage in policy advocacy at the state and local level by request, including work on legislation and sign-on letters as needed
  • Liaise with allied organizations to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Create resources on behalf of the organization to support the broader reuse and policy community
  • Represent the organization at speaking engagements, both in-person and virtual

What We Are Looking For

  • Intermediate knowledge of policymaking processes and experience engaging in policy advocacy
  • Well-organized, able to run/administer online platforms and systems to manage relationships and workstreams
  • Experience in grassroots engagement and support
  • Public speaking skills and experience for in-person and virtual settings
  • Facilitation skills and experience engaging with diverse groups
  • Strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Passion for reuse, environmental justice, and policy advocacy
  • Ability to work in a fast-evolving landscape where priorities shift as the movement grows

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Basecamp or similar project management tools
  • Knowledge of the reuse and environmental justice movement
  • Familiarity with policy tracking and analysis
