Job Description
About the Role
The US Director, Genitourinary Payor & Access Strategy Lead, is a critical role within MSD's Medical Affairs team. This position is responsible for developing and implementing payor and access strategies for genitourinary cancers, including urothelial, renal, and prostate cancers. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including US Medical Affairs, Value Teams, and Global Medical and Scientific Affairs, to drive strategic excellence and optimize payor access.As a key member of the US Medical Affairs team, the US Director will provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure that MSD's oncology assets are successfully launched and reimbursed. This will involve analyzing market trends, identifying opportunities, and developing strategic plans to address the needs of payors, patients, and healthcare providers.
The US Director will also work closely with the US HSO Executive Director, US HSO Sr. Director PASL, and other members of the global and regional cross-functional teams to develop and implement integrated Field Medical plans. This will involve collaborating with key stakeholders to define and implement strategic congress priorities, coordinating planning of HSO MAD activities at key scientific congresses, and continuously scanning the healthcare environment to analyze emerging trends.
What You Will Do
- Develop and direct payor and access strategy for genitourinary cancers, including urothelial, renal, and prostate cancers
- Lead the US HSO integrated Field Medical plan process in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Collect, analyze, and communicate scientific insights from US HSO Medical Affairs Director field engagements to inform company strategies
- Serve as the US Health Systems Oncology interface between GMSA, Commercial, and other relevant headquarters functions and the US HSO Team
- Identify and prioritize US HSO field resources, training needs, and activities to optimize HSO MAD Field Team readiness
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and implement strategic congress priorities for USHSO
- Continuously scan the healthcare environment to analyze emerging trends in the oncology therapeutic and competitive landscape
- Represent USMA HSO in partnership with GMSA in Expert Input Forums or Advisory Boards, as needed
- Develop and direct payor and access strategy in alignment with organizational priorities and unmet needs
- Lead the US Payor Access Team to support prioritizing US gaps/needs assessment, value evidence strategy, and tactical plan for global V&I annual planning input
What We Are Looking For
- Advanced healthcare/science degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD)
- Minimum 5+ years of prior pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably Field Medical experience or equivalent biotech/pharmaceutical/Medical Affairs strategy experience, within oncology
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement a strategic plan
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and results-oriented project management skills
- Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine, US healthcare delivery system structure and function, pharmacoeconomics, population health management, quality management, value-based payment, and healthcare delivery policy and trends
- Ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
Nice to Have
- Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) with 5+ years of clinical experience working within a cancer center
- Experience working in quality/managed care/cancer center settings, with demonstrated oncology scientific acumen
- Knowledge of US healthcare policy and regulatory environment
- Experience with data analysis and interpretation
