About the Role
The User Centered Design Lead at Careers is a pivotal role, responsible for transforming the company's website design processes with a user-centered approach. This involves building and operationalizing user-centered design processes across client website projects, defining and implementing frameworks for research, journey mapping, and usability testing, and advocating for the user at every stage of the design and development process. As a seasoned UX professional, the successful candidate will thrive in ambiguity, lead with empathy, and bring deep UX craft to the table.The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently in a fast-paced, remote-first organization and is comfortable collaborating with designers, developers, writers, and account managers to embed user-centered design thinking into everything the company does. The User Centered Design Lead will be responsible for creating and documenting UX guidelines, workflows, and toolkits for scale, developing methodologies to gather meaningful usability insights across a large client base, and leading user research and testing efforts for new and existing client websites.
What You Will Do
- Build and operationalize user-centered design processes across client website projects
- Define and implement frameworks for research, journey mapping, and usability testing
- Advocate for the user at every stage of the design and development process
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including designers, developers, writers, and account managers
- Partner with the experimentation and optimization team to evolve post-launch testing strategy beyond A/B tests
- Collaborate with design leadership and product owners to align UX goals with business objectives
- Lead user research and testing efforts for new and existing client websites
- Create and document UX guidelines, workflows, and toolkits for scale
- Develop methodologies to gather meaningful usability insights across a large client base
What We Are Looking For
- 5 to 7 years of experience in user experience design, with a strong focus on user research, testing, and journey mapping
- Experience in or adjacent to the eye care or healthcare industry is highly preferred
- Proven ability to build or lead UX practices from scratch in a cross-functional environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, remote-first organization
- Deep understanding of UX principles, research methods, and usability best practices
- Hands-on experience developing user journeys, personas, wireframes, and prototypes
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate insights into actionable design improvements
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative testing methods
Nice to Have
- Experience with design and project management tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Asana
- Knowledge of front-end development principles and how they impact UX design
- Certification in UX design or a related field, although practical expertise is valued more
